- 2 tsp Active dry yeast I use THIS brand
- 2 TBSP Sugar or honey
- 3 Cups Bread flour or all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Soft butter
Instructions
- If you have an oven that has a "bread proof" button, turn it on. If not, no worries.
- In a stand mixer with the dough hook or in a large bowl, pour in the warm water, yeast and sugar.
- Mix up lightly and let sit for a few minutes. Not needed but helps.
- Add the flour, salt and soft butter to the stand mixer or bowl.
- Turn the stand mixer on low speed and mix until combined or If you are using a large bowl, mix with your hands until combined.
- Knead with your hands for a few minutes if not using the stand mixer and place back into the bowl.
- Place a towel over the bowl and place into the oven if you are using the bread proof option. If you do not have that option, place into the oven and keep the oven light on or place in a warm spot. The microwave is a good spot as well.
- Let the dough sit for an hour to double in size.
- Once it has doubled, remove and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Punch the dough and remove from the bowl and place on a lightly floured surface.
- Roll out into a rectangle with your hands and fold into thirds.
- Form the dough into a short log (length and width of loaf pan) making sure to pinch the seams together.
- Place the dough into a well-greased loaf pan (I use butter).
- Cover again and let rise for another 20-30 minutes in a warm spot.
- Once ready, place into the oven and bake for 28 minutes.
- Remove and brush the top of the loaf with butter.
- Remove from pan and let cool all the way before slicing.
