Blackened Chicken

This recipe is so insanely good. It is EXTREMELY versatile and super easy to make.

Would make for a great meal prep item for ZERO WW points, 196 calories and has 35.1 grams of protein.


Here is what you will need:

  • Air fryer
  • Cooking spray
  • Avocado oil spray
  • Chicken breast
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried oregano
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Smoked paprika chipotle or smoked paprika
  • Dak’s Green Zest or Italian seasoning
  • Dried basil

You can use fresh or frozen, just make sure to defrost the frozen before preparing.

I found the Victoria Taylor smoky paprika chipotle seasoning at TJMaxx or Marshall’s and so glad I did because it has the tastiest flavoring. You can get it off of Amazon if interested.

How to make it:

  1. Preheat air fryer or oven to 400 degrees
  2. In a bowl place the chicken breast
    1. If you are making “nuggets” cut up the chicken first, then add to the bowl
  3. Spray the chicken with avocado oil
  4. Add all of the seasonings
  5. Coat very well all over the chicken
  6. Spray the air fryer basket or tray with cooking spray
  7. Place the chicken onto or in the air fryer tray or basket
  8. Spray the chicken again with some cooking spray
  9. Cook until the chicken reaches 165 degress interally
    1. All chicken times will be different depending on the size and thickness of the chicken
  10. Once done, let the chicken rest on a place before slicing
    1. If you slice your chicken immediately after removing from the air fryer you will have a dry chicken because all of the juices will pour out. That is why you wait and let rest before slicing.

  • 1 Air fryer or oven
  • Mixing bowl


  • 1/2 tsp Avocado oil spray
  • 1 Pound Chicken breast
  • 1 TBSP Victoria Taylor's smoked paprika chipotle seasoning or smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 TBSP Dak's Green Zest or Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp Dried basil
  • 1 Pinch Papa's Pepper Extreme seasoning or cayenne to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste


  • Preheat air fryer or oven to 400 degress
  • In a bowl place the chicken breast
  • Spray with the avocado oil
  • Pour all of the seasonings into the bowl and coat very well
    **If making nuggets cut chicken first then coat with seasonings**
  • Spray the air fryer basket or tray with cooking spray
    **If cooking in an oven, place on sheet tray with parchment paper**
  • Cook chicken until it reaches 165 degrees internally. All chicken times are different depending on size and thickness.
  • Let rest on a plate before slicing, about 10 minutes.
